Ruby was born in Texas, but was ‘transplanted’ to Arkansas at an early age. She went from needle point design to clay- She studied with Professor Aaron Calvert at Henderson State University- Her chosen specialty in clay-work is to create the most delicate flowers in clay and applies them to her vessels. Artist Statement: “I took a pottery class in 2007 at a local community college and never looked back. Clay is both the most frustrating and satisfying of mediums- feeling a lump of clay turning between your hands, knowing that by your will alone & a little luck will become a new singular creation. When a vessel comes through the glazing & firing process and turns out exactly as one imagined it- that is true satisfaction & very exhilarating.”
