More girls have been named for Sarah than for any other woman in the Bible. Her majestic name has been given to her by God himself as he chose her to be the mother of the Jewish people. “Sarai (Princess) shall no longer be called Sarai but Sarah (Chieftainess) I will bless her and give her a son. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations, and rulers will issue from her.” (Genesis 17:15 – 16)
What interests me on Sarah is her multifaceted personality, her powerful self awareness her absolute loyalty to Abraham and her people. She is described as wife, equal partner, best friend and accomplice in many endeavors political and otherwise, a woman of enormous spirituality. It is speculated that she had influence and power in her own right as a high priestess of the Goddess cult in Ur and Haran, and she carried herself throughout her life with a confident authority.
